Paper 2 is usually more direct and simple Contrary to it, paper 3 is more applicative and conceptual these days. UGC NET June 2014: Tips for the General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude , Ph 078-38-023-956

University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the date as 29 June 2014 for National Eligibility Test (NET) June 2014.  UGC conducts the National Eligibility Test twice a year and through this test, it assesses the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor.

Scheme of Test

The Test will be in two separate sessions and will have three papers. All these papers will consist of only objective type questions. The first and second paper will be 1 hour and 15 minutes duration each and organized in the first session, i.e. morning session. The third paper will be organized in second session and 2 hours and 30 minutes of duration.

While the second and third paper will be from the subject opted by the candidates, the first paper will be general in nature and carries the objective of assessing the teaching and research aptitude of the examinee.

Tips
There will be 60 questions in the first paper and a candidate need to attempt only 50 questions. In the first paper, which carries 100 marks, a candidates can perform very well by adopting the tips given below -

•    Candidates should maximize their knowledge of basics of internet and e-mailing.
•    Basic terms that are being widely used across Internet, computer related basic terms, etc. should be given enough priority while preparation.
•    There will be some questions related to current affairs, for which candidates should keep regular eye on the exam oriented developments especially those are related to higher education.
•    Some of the questions will be from the teaching aptitude which can be easily prepared from the popular study materials and developed the understanding the teaching in larger perspective.
•    Similarly, for research aptitude, candidates should try to learn the research methodologies proposed by different experts.
•    Candidates should take special care of the basic facts related to proposal and thesis preparation.
•    There could be questions related to recent popular terms and abbreviations, IRNSS 1B, Keplar 186F, INSAT 3E, etc. Candidates while preparation current affairs should make notes on daily basis.
•    There will be some questions related to reasoning and basic mathematics of tenth standards. These two sections can be prepared from any popular reasoning book.
•    The candidates should try to solve the previous year question papers and model papers, as much as possible.
•    Time management is very crucial. Candidates while attempting the model paper should try to complete it within the stipulated time frame.

Pondicherry University appoints faculty member accused of assaulting student as UGC-NET exam coordinator , Ph 078-380-239-56

PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry University has appointed a faculty member, who was booked by the police on charges of illegally confining a student and assaulting him, as the coordinator for the University Grant Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examination 2014.

In an official communication to the UGC's National Eligibility Testing Bureau, New Delhi, university registrar conveyed the appointment of S Hariharan, director of Academic Staff College, as the coordinator of the NET examination. The next UGC-NET exam will be held on June 29.

Hariharan, officer on special duty (security and vigilance) Booshan Sudhakar, who is also a reader (international business), School of Management, and two security officers were booked after a first-year postgraduate student of the Department of Tamil lodged a complaint against them charging that they had illegally confined him for more than 24 hours, assaulted and tortured him to admit that he entered a girls' hostel on the campus.
